Chilly’s win 2 x iF Awards

We’re proud to announce that the Chilly’s Series 2 Flip Water Bottle and Chilly’s Reusable Cutlery, both designed by Studio Wood were recently awarded iF 2024 Design Awards.

The iF Design Awards, which originally began in 1953 and organised by Germany's International Forum Design, are one of the world’s three major design awards, evaluating design differentiation and influence in nine categories, including product, packaging, communication, concept, interior, architecture, service design, UX & UI.

The Chilly’s Series 2 Flip Water Bottle

Chilly's mission is simple, to accelerate the adoption and everyday use of reusable products. Single-use bottles are still a huge problem all around the world, in the UK alone we use 13 billion plastic bottles every year most of which end up in landfill. The Chilly's Series 2 Flip has been designed to accelerate the adoption of reusables by offering a product that is perfect for active lives, intense workouts and everything in between. The Series 2 Flip offers customers 24 hours cold water, an antimicrobial drinking surface, fits onto all existing Series 2 bottles and has the same uncompromising performance whilst adding more features and functionality. The Chilly’s Reusable Cutlery Set

Single-use take-away cutlery is a huge problem all around the world, in the UK alone we use 2.7 billion items of single use cutlery each year, enough cutlery to encircle our planet over eight and a half times. When designing the new Chilly’s Cutlery Set, we aimed to enhance the functionality and aesthetics of reusable cutlery in order to lead the change to reusables. We created a cutlery set that is portable, durable and offers an uncompromising on the go dining experience. To read more about the design process and our involvement in this project - click here.

What insights or unresolved problems prompted the development of Chilly’s Reusable Cutlery?

“Cutlery and straws are still often used and discarded in their single-use form, the challenge was to create a solution that people are happy to use over single-use alternatives.

There are cutlery sets on the market, but they tend to lean into utility, rather than usability, comfort and familiarity. You often have to sacrifice eating experience using small, fiddly cutlery. We wanted our set to be different, something that offered an eating experience more akin to your home cutlery. We strongly believe reusable products should always offer an experience better than the single-use alternative.

There are also a number of law changes rolling out across the EU in regards to single-use items, so having the correct solutions in place is essential to helping people make the transition to an entirely reusable lifestyle.”

James Wood (Founder & Creative Director of Studio Wood)

The team at Studio Wood are delighted to have played a part in Chilly’s being recognised for their dedication to minimising single-use products while providing their customers a high level of design at an affordable price.

This isn’t the first time Chilly’s have won an iF Award, the Series 2 Water Bottle won in the product category in 2021, which was also designed by Studio Wood.

Since 2017, our design partnership with Chilly’s has thrived. Empowered by a shared vision, Studio Wood have become a key partner for Chilly’s and have allowed them to realise their own portfolio of beautifully designed reusables. We have more products in the pipeline due to launch this year and can not wait to share them with the world.
