Industrial Designer
Full Time | 12-month Contract | Bournemouth
We are looking for a talented Industrial Designer to join our award-winning team creating products with purpose. This is a rare chance to join Studio Wood, a small, multi-award-winning design studio on the South Coast, working with global brands and start up’s including; Chilly’s, Kenwood, Naim Audio, Kingfisher, Fussy, Bower Collective, and Tesco.
You’ll work on diverse projects from concept to production, across multiple product markets, in a collaborative and inclusive environment just minutes from Bournemouth’s beach.

THE ROLE
We’re seeking a talented Industrial Designer who is creative, technically skilled, and curious to work across every stage of the design process, from strategy through to visualisation. You’ll solve problems with a human-centred approach, leveraging emerging technologies and sustainable practices. Supported by our tight-knit team, you’ll be hands-on in everything from ideation to prototyping.
What you’ll bring to the studio:
1-4 years of industry experience with a strong visual portfolio
Strong problem-solving skills and conceptual thinking
Strong industrial design skills
Strong CAD skills (Solidworks)
Experience with Adobe CC: Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign
Strong Visualisation skills (Keyshot)
AI prompting experience
Prototyping skills: in-house workshop & 3D printing
Manufacturing knowledge
Collaborative, adaptable, and self-motivated
Strong physical sketching ability
Understanding of sustainable design practices
Self-motivated drive with an entrepreneurial hands-on approach
Ability to manage time effectively whilst working to deadlines
Fluency in English, UK work eligibility, valid passport & willingness to travel
Nice to have:
A degree in Industrial Design, Product Design or a related discipline
Ability to start immediately or with a short notice period
Experience in UX/UI
Digital sketching ability
Advance research skills
Knowledge of additional CAD/visualisation tools
Driving license/other means of transport (not essential)
