Junior Industrial Designer

We are looking for a talented Junior Industrial Designer to join our award-winning team creating products with purpose. This is a rare chance to join Studio Wood, a small, multi-award-winning design studio on the South Coast, working with global brands and start-ups including Chilly’s, Kenwood, Naim Audio, Kingfisher, Fussy, Bower Collective, and Tesco.
You’ll work on diverse projects from concept to production, across multiple product markets, in a collaborative and inclusive environment just minutes from Bournemouth beach.

THE ROLE
We’re seeking a talented Junior Industrial Designer who is creative and curious to work across every stage of the design process, from strategy through to visualisation. You’ll solve problems with a human-centred approach, leveraging emerging technologies and sustainable practices. Supported by our tight-knit team, you’ll be hands-on in everything from ideation to prototyping.
What you’ll bring to the studio:
Up to 2 years of industry experience
Problem-solving skills and conceptual thinking
A creative thought process with idea generation
Competent industrial design skills
CAD skills (Solidworks)
Experience with Adobe CC: Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign
Visualisation skills (Keyshot)
AI prompting experience
Collaborative, adaptable, and self-motivated
Good physical sketching ability
Self-motivated drive with an entrepreneurial hands-on approach
Ability to manage time effectively whilst working to deadlines
Fluency in English + must be able to work from the UK, valid passport & willingness to travel
Nice to have:
A degree in Industrial Design, Product Design or a related discipline
Prototyping skills: in-house workshop & 3D printing
Understanding of sustainable design practices
Knowledge of additional CAD/visualisation tools
Experience in UX/UI
Manufacturing knowledge
Digital sketching ability
Advance research skills
